Career

Elan Layliev founded his firm in 2014 after several years as an attorney in small firms, and large firms and as corporate counsel to a Brooklyn-based real estate development and management company. Prior to legal practice, Mr. Layliev spent time on the trading desks of the investment bank formerly known as Bear Stearns and worked in the New York City Diamond District. Combining his experience in business and real estate law, Mr. Layliev has represented his clients with a unique approach thinking inside and outside the box, and earning the reputation of being a “businessman’s lawyer”. Over the years, Mr. Layliev has provided his clients with a businessman’s approach to complex legal issues, rather than simply a restatement of the law. He represents real estate firms and small property owners in their management, use, and operation of residential and commercial properties. His real estate practice includes complex landlord-tenant litigation, representing landlords and property owners in housing court, before the DHCR and HPD. Layliev also has extensive experience with cooperative apartments and condominiums. Since much of landlord-tenant law relies heavily on the underlying leases, Mr. Layliev assists both landlords and tenants in drafting and negotiating their commercial leases, protecting rights in the subject properties and long-term profitability in the client’s investment, and ensuring enforcement measures are set. Whether you are a first-time buyer or an experienced investor, Mr. Layliev will guide you through every stage in your purchase or sale of commercial and residential real estate in New York. Mr. Layliev has also successfully represented hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and other business professionals in their commercial transactions. His vast business experience provides his business clients with an edge in each of their transactions. Mr. Layliev serves as outside counsel to many companies within and outside of New York State, including Canada, Russia, and Israel for all legal needs of their New York operations.
